Quote: My daughter has ran my phone dead texting, 2 of these are hers! The rest I plan to put with my surrogate momma goose, she wants to brood any baby she sees. She has raised 2 groups of ducklings this year already. This late in the year, most of the folks on my list have declined. I fully understand, hard to brood waterfowl in the cold months.

Well I was a bad chicken momma yesterday and not much better today.
On the way to meet up for the new additions I had a migraine, got rid of that talked with Brat Flock and got the birds and headed home 10 minutes into the trip back got car-sick ( happens to me quite a bit ) by the time we got home I was so sick I couldn't stand up without loosing my lunch. So we turned the new girls loose in the ISO/dog yard and kept everyone else locked up till I felt better ( car-sickness normally goes away after about an hours of laying down ) but I was still sick when feed time came DH done the feeding and said he put the newbies in the temp house. So all was good and I stayed in bed. He said the door on the temp house was too small for the "fat" newbies so he made it bigger in the dark with a saw. I waas worried about what it was going to look like in the morning....

It wasn't too bad really, it was crocked but it worked. H fixed it today, put a perch in it for them and hay, Poor things had to sleep on a wood floor last night. I felt so bad for doing that too them but DH done his best and I was just plain too sick to get up and fix the problem.

We still have to put a A frame roof on it, it has a flat roof right now, we will put the A frame over that and we still have windows to put in. o and make a hinged door so I can stop putting this cage in front of it.. lol

We were going to use the piece he cut out for the door but he did it in the dark so it was crocked and then he fixed it o now that piece don't fit.. lol oh well
We get all that done I will paint it. The girls seem to like the perch they went right to it at bed time.
That is Boots ( brown ) and Sam ( black ) checking over DH's work. Sam just had to put his stamp of approval on it.

I felt good enough to feed tonight so I got to talk to all the kids for a few.
Now I'm back to feeling like rode kill, so I'm going to bed. G-night all

Got the Peas all set with straw today in their crates. All of them are doing well and none were overly stressed by me reaching in to spread their bedding.

Took some pics but most are staying to the back of the crates and I've kept the tops tarped to prevent the flying up hitting the tops!

I have started gathering treats, like shrimp tails and bread crusts to work on hand feeding. We'll see how that goes over.

Got to get on my soapbox here--you can see how much work and expense ellymayRans has put into this project already, with much more to come. There are still birds out there that she plans to bring in, and whatever anyone can donate to help fund the rescue will be appreciated, I'm sure. Several people have contributed already, both monetarily and with labor. I know that she won't ask herself, so I'm putting in my two cents worth. Her PayPal address was listed a few pages back--I don't remember it right now but will look it up and post it.

A huge thank you to ellymayRans for this gigantic effort!

@pbirdhaven thanks. It is a huge effort no doubt but I did make that choice to help. If it weren't for the support from everyone here and my friend who runs a rescue I wouldn't have ever thought it to be feasible!! So big thanks for that! It was such a relief when so many came together so quickly in order to ensure I had what I needed to make the trip a success Sunday!

It's coming together and yes any help is appreciated. Times are always tough for some and I recognize that. Myself included. But in all honesty even a few dollars helps. Those few dollars add up.

Not everyone has paypal I'm sure but it's a great thing to have for many things. Very easy to set up an account.
;)

So my broody rir sits and sits on eggs from time to time she takes her chick out to do whatever they do and I notice there's still a pile of eggs under her should I check the eggs? Or let her continue to sit I'm not sure what's old and what's new is it getting to late to let her hatch?

If you didn't write date down or mark the eggs, your best bet is to candle them. @Sally Sunshine wrote this article and did an excellent job.
