INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hens will be more of a poof of rounded feathers on the head vs the long pointed ones this is displaying. Only Roos have pointed saddle feathers.

Ok I know I said I wasn't going to add any new breeds until we found a place and got moved......

But these just fell into my yard... Literally.

found them after Covered Bridge Selling, when I went to feed. Didn't see them in the am or noon when I walked back to check on everyone, but they were here at 6 pm.
I know they are Polish but what kind? and are they boys girls, one of each? And is it normal for the waddles to show? I looked at some pic's trying to figure out what kind of Polish they were and couldn't find them, couldn't find any that had waddles showing. Am going to keep looking but if any of you could help out with this I would be grateful.
I tried to get good head shots, but they like to walk around allot.
O and BTY with these 2 I am now out of ISO space!!! O my that has never happened before, DH is going to give birth!!!!! ( he got home too late last night to see them, and he was in a mood so I didn't tell him.. lol )

Mixed variety Polish cocks. They're pretty worthless as breeders, which is why somebody thought you should have them--wouldn't have been able to sell them. If you like friendly, cuddly birds, though, most Polish fit the bill. I've picked a sleeping cock up to move him, and he'll just snuggle down in my arms and continue to sleep. I have had some that were spiteful--I expect those were hatchery birds with a lot of inbreeding. I don't keep a mean bird long (except my tolbunt cock--he's just too good looking and good to his girls, so we just stay out of each other's way). A Polish from a good bloodline is gentle, inquisitive, and just fun.

Well its a good thing I'm not in the market to breed them then, and I thank whoever for the 2 extra mouths to feed this winter... but as you said, these 2 guys are absolute sweethearts. They are the biggest cuddle bugs I have ever had. And they have only known me for 3 days, it's great! Yes I'm in-love

I always pick the miss fits lol
I agree with you, I don't keep mean roo or hens, 1 my grand kids love to hold and cuddle them and 2 I just aint gonna have it. I don't like being flogged and I don't like drama in the flocks.

On another note... have ya ever been disappointed and laughed about it at the same time???? We have a hen ( DH's pick over all ) called ol'girl, I hatched 3 of her eggs this year, 2 died and 1 lived and is now TRYING TO CROW!!!! Was so hoping for a hen, I dont think I will get another chance to hatch and try for a daughter again, she has finally stopped laying. She is 5 years old and up till the end of summer was still giving a xlg egg every other day.
2nd disappointment: I lost my favorite hen this year, the BR that showed up 2 years ago out of nowhere, I hatched 4 of her eggs befor she died and only 1 survived and it is officially a roo as of this morning!!!!!! He is starting to CROW. I knew he was a roo cause ya know the spot on his head as a chick..... but I was holding out hope I was wrong!!!, Hate being right sometimes.
So there are 2 roo's the new Polish 4 the BTWJ 5 one of my BO are turning out to be Roo ( pretty sure ) 6 2 BCM out of the 3 I have, so that 8, Then my layer flock Roo Bob, 9 and of course Waddles, 10. Romeo, 11. Blackbeard, 12. Pretty sure 1 of my 3 remaining Silkie chicks is roo, so 13. And I still have 7 chicks that are still too little to even guess at. lol my neighbors are going to have a cow if they all start crowing!!! Some wont due to the dominate Roo thing....

.

I have enough hens in the layer group to put either the BR roo or Ol'girls son in with them, maybe both, will have to see about that I only have 14 layers so 3 might be too many there. The Silkie kid is growing up with mom so in the Silkie group already, I don't know will have to figure out who goes and who stays. I know DH will not let Ol'girls son go, he is just that way. So unless he turns mean, he will be a permanent fixture around here lol. If it wasnt for Rooster luck I would have no luck at all!!!!! So I guess I'm laughing to keep from crying.
