Sorry I've been gone so long! DH had open heart surgery to fix his mitral valve and the preliminary testing started on 5/15. Surgery was 5/30. Discharged 6/7. I had my sixth back surgery 6/8. DH has had cardiac rehab 3X/week since he got home. I have my seventh back surgery on 8/28. Anyway, it's been nuts around here. Eggs piled up and filled the fridge. Fortunately, we were able to recoup at least part of the feed cost by putting them "on sale" via Nextdoor.com.
Anyway, I have some beautiful solid chocolate English Orpington and chocolate cuckoo English Orpington pullets for sale, as well as a black/lav split (about half English) Orp pullet, PLUS a pair of LF Cochins! I was supposed to get two pullets but got a partridge cockerel and a white pullet. The pullet is a doll. The partridge cockerel is less lovey dovey but he's fine and gorgeous. We've never had a partridge ANYTHING before. But I think I need to sell them. I wanted two pullets. We also had one silver spangled Hamburg pullet survive (one died within a day) and I'm keeping her. She is small but very pretty and I'm sure can get away from anyone who may pester her. Her name is Lumiere. We also finally got a SGD cockerel so hopefully we'll have eggs to hatch next year. They can be sexed at hatch. I love my SGD hens. They are sweet, friendly, and extremely treat motivated! They also don't pick on young ones, so grow outs that I'm keeping have been living peacefully with the Dorkings.
With Julie's permission, I'm posting photos of my chocolate and chocolate cuckoo hens that she bought last year. One also includes a lavender girl, but I'm restocking my lavenders and not planning to sell any except possibly some adults.
Finally, I'm thinking of selling my Bielefelder flock (5-6). They are all hens, about 3 years old but this is just their second year laying. They still lay regularly, good-sized dark brown speckled eggs, and would also be mighty tasty in the crock pot. They have a lot of breast meat compared to some of my other breeds.
Solid chocolate girls are $20 each, chocolate cuckoo pullets $25 each, and the black/lav split is $10. End of season deals. These are really almost straight run chick prices and I generally charge double this much, but my husband would like his garage back. They are all about 3 months old so will lay during the winter for you. Dad is from Fancy Chick lines via Jeff at Papa's, and the moms vary--some are black Orps ranging from my breeding to one via Fancy Chick, plus a chocolate hen I purchased from
@Junibutt (such a sweetie, that girl) and one of her choc cuckoo daughters from last year from a different roo.
The LF Cochins are 10 weeks old. Haven't figured out a price. Prefer to sell as a pair. Make me an offer! I'll try to get some photos posted.
All are vaccinated against Marek's disease and have not been outdoors. They are healthy and wanting to go outside!
