AC, I am sorry for your loss, I know it hurts having been there myself. But please don't give up and not come to the party, and don't blame yourself over the loss. These things happen and we learn from them.

Aww AC, I am sorry about your girl. We too had a loss this morning, a 4 week old chick died for no reason, I am on my way out to bury her. I know it's a tough thing to have happen but things happen for a reason, it is not your fault, you can't be everywhere all the time only God can do that! If you need to talk you can call me

Don't let this discourage you, just remember all the good things about her and most important of all, you still have chickens that need you to be there for them. You are a good chicken momma, just look at how many lives you have already saved, again, this was not your fault!

I know how you feel. I lost two and had three hurt in the first few weeks by my own dog and an unknown midnight assailant. I couldn't help but feel like I was horrible at chicken farming. But it has been almost a month without incident and I'm so happy with my chickens!

I have a couple RIR and White Rock pullets about three months old that I could sell if anyone is interested. Not very showy chickens but good layers.

AC, I too am sorry to hear about your loss. Please don't give up! I know that it's hard to lose what you love. At the get-together you'll be surrounded by folks who understand that it's not "just a chicken."
Maybe we could find a spot to set up newsprint or posterboard for people to write little memorials for our feathered, furred, and scaled friends. If anyone thinks that that would be okay, I would be happy to bring the supplies.

Thanks everyone. At first we swore it was a hawk but there was no feathers or any sign of one getting her. All I can hope for now is that she had a quick painless death. It looked like through all the tears she was killed sometime in the morning and not during the night since the blood was still wet(could of been dew though). Everyone is remaining on lock up until they start laying good so they don't go other places and lay. The traps are going out tonight to be set and it will die even though I cannot shoot in the city.

It seems like any chicken I loose it's one of my favorite. I know this is kinda harsh but- Why couldn't it of been the lil mean OEGB boys!?... It's always gotta be girls.
