Is there a good picture of Kernal floating around online anywhere? I'd love to see the rooster that inspires so much love.

Oh, and what does it mean when a rooster flogs someone?

Alina

AC...Rick gave the Kernal the

to move in if that is what you want to do.

flogging is when a cockerel or rooster kicks/hits you with his legs and spurs or whops you with his wings. it can be anything from a tiny spanking to a great big gash through your jeans.

I am hoping its not forever... He only does it when she goes after Spanky for trying to flog her.

It seem last year about this time he started flogging my dad lol.

I will see if I can find you at the meetup then. He is a sweetheart too. He is in my coop with bantams and standards and so far everyone gets along. There has been some tension among the roos, but that's to be expected. I just want to make room cause I know there will be more roos in my not too distant future, lol. And Shultz, picking me up early is fine. Then I can help you set up. Anyone interested if I bring homemade cheesecake? My mom is actually in business for herself making them, and they are soooooooo delicious, and I'm not much of a cheesecake fan. I might bring one, or two if people really like cheesecake, as a dish to serve so everyone can try some.

Wow, so I definitely don't want to wear shorts in the chicken coop, huh?

Kernal is a showstopper. Even I can see that!

Does anyone reading this thread have Buckeye chickens? That is the breed I was interested in after my research. I've heard Buckeye roos are pretty friendly.

And even if you don't have Buckeyes, I'd love to hear about your favorite chicken breeds for our climate (and for temperament). Especially heritage breeds.

MMM cheesecake!! Sounds great!

AC, if you have to give Kernal up, I know he will have a great home with Miss_jayne, heck she will probably make him even more famous

Kernal is such a handsome boy; did his feathers make a full comeback from his molt?

Alina-the book sounds wonderful and thank you for the offer

I think that would make a good raffle or silent auction prize. I am just starting to get the sheet ready.
I hope you aren't too overwhelmed, I got a little panicked over the weekend but I think I am ok for the minute. If you need any help with yours, please let me know!

Everyone has been so generous with their donations, God has surely blessed our Chickenstock with a great group!! I can't say thank you enough!!

Oh, I almost forgot!! I bought some really good meat over the weekend and I am making the rest of the pulled pork today (3 crockpots are going) and I am making a second batch of coney sauce (2 1/2 quarts didn't seem like enough for over 100 people) If we have left over, I'll just freeze it or send it home with someone.

As a reminder, if you are planning on taking animals home with you from the chickenstock, please make sure you have a cage or box to take them home in.
