um, i would kidnap Kernal if i wouldn't get arrested and then beaten, flogged, tarred with molasses and rolled in crushed corn and fed to Cornish X by his fan club here on BYC.

he's dreamy!

Ok..because he almost tryed to flog my mother in the leg today.. I think it's because she is trying to mess with one of the bantam boys which he will protect. She said if he gets worse then he has to go... Even when I had to grab one of the bantams because he flogged me Kernal came up and bumped me in the back of the leg and looked at me if as asking "What do you think your doing to my flock mate?"

Sooo Kathleen . . . . was going thru old posts in the Games section (the connect the video game title one) and saw you said Everquest . . . . just out of curiosity, you ever play EQ?

Ok, I took the day off of work, and I REALLY want to come. Can I hitch a ride with anyone heading down there? I will be bringing my kids and a beautiful little roo that I need to part with since I have so many others. He's a beautiful partridge turken, standard size. At the time of the meet up he will be approximately 16 weeks old. He is pretty easy going, gets along well with everybody in the coop, but I have 8 other roos, plus at least one more in the brooder in my bathroom, if not more, not that I plan to keep all of them either! I might have a bantam buff orpington roo or two to bring along too if anyone is interested. And maybe, possibly, a pullet as well. Depends on what I have by the time of the meet up. I seem to be REALLY bad at sexing chickens, so I could very well be giving away all my pullets. It seems that every time I think I have a pullet, it turns out to be a roo, and visa versa. So I think I will wait til they either crow, or lay an egg, cause that seems to be the only way I personally will know! But if I can snag a ride with someone, I really want to go! If you can, pm me. I'll try to get on tomorrow night after work to see if anyone responded. If not, does your offer still stand Shultz? I hate to ask. I wish my car was running better...

Here is a pic of my turken baby the day I got him. I got him from another BYC'er, thinking he was a she...

His name is Ollie, short for Oliver:

AC-Sorry to hear about Kernal! I am sure, if need be, you could find him a great home. Just tell your mom it's the raging hormones and hopefully it will slow down!

Lunawriter-I agree, depending on where you live, there are tons of possibilities with your garden. Honestly, with all the rain we have had, I just got my garden finished and I will probably be harvesting until November

I just picked some green beans yesterday (5) so I had to buy some to make a full batch, they were yummy!

Whitney-I hope your flock is doing better! Sorry about your air conditioning, I think I would die! It at least has been a little cooler here. I did play EQ for a while but liked Anarchy Online much better and played that for about 3 years. I haven't played a mmorpg in quite some time though, I got addicted to xbox 1st person shooters.

chicken_china_mom-The offer still stands! I will have to come really early so I can get stuff done here too unless I can talk my kid into coming to get you. Sorry about your luck with the roos, that little turken is really cute!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

That Buff Bantam Orpington Roo sounds cute, just wish I had the room. As it is I am already way over the legal limit on my birds.

Of course if I come across the right property at the right price soon, that would be a different story.

That little rooster would LOVE my red turken hens! IF you still have him by C Stock time, I'll take him!

I can bring duck if anyone wants some runner/swedish mixes. They ARE stinky, so I'll only bring 'em if ya want 'em!

Thanks for your garden input, everyone.

This is my first year to have a big garden and I want to make it as productive as possible so I appreciate your suggestions.

I noticed that there will be prizes offered at the party, or items for auction and I was thinking of what I might be able to donate. I thought maybe I should contribute a copy of my book (signed if you like) that I wrote for the Children's Museum of Indianapolis called "Martimus at Midnight". Not chicken-related, but it may raise a little money for the cause--and for cancer, too. My husband is a cancer researcher, and I have a friend whose mom is fighting a rare form of the disease right now, so that's something I definitely want to support!

Kathleen I hope you're not feeling too overwhelmed by the planning and will shout out here for whatever help you need or for any items you need provided. I know this is a MAJOR undertaking. I'm planning a party the week before at about a quarter of the scale of yours--no animals involved--and I'm feeling a bit frantic! You're so wonderful to do this!
