This chick was scalped 2 nights ago. The first night I used peroxide, saline and white cream Neosporin. The next morning I tried taking off the Neosporin but some of it wouldn't come off. I used saline and then iodine to rinse it after getting off as much cream as I could. Then applied clear jelly Neosporin. Today is day 3 and all I did this morning was rinse with saline and apply more clear jelly Neosporin. I also have herbs in her food and water for natural antibiotic. Does this look like the normal healing process or is this an infection? Or maybe white Neosporin still stuck on there from the first night? She's still eating and drinking but taking more naps today. She's also shivering so I put a heating pad in her set up (in the house) but she prefers naps on the unheated side.

The laser thermometer reads her head temp at 90 degrees and her back/body temp 100.5 so her head is staying cool. I haven't given her much time to dry out I didn't know if letting things dry would prevent skin from growing over the bone? Maybe I'll give her a rinse of saline tonight and then leave it to dry overnight.

Yes, it needs a dry time in between. The bare skull can be kept moist, but allow the damaged skin to dry some, before moistening again. It'll help encourage scabbing/granulation to occur during the healing process.

She's looking much better after a night of drying out. This morning I did another rinse of saline and just a tiny dab of Neosporin on the bone. I'll do another rinse of saline tonight and give her the night to dry again. She's got a long road of healing but she's got her energy back today and eating like a pig so I'm happy 😊
