Found my baby girl with a wound on her neck today. She acts fine and I haven't seen them peck at each other. There are five of them and they are about 5-6 weeks old and in a closed coop outside that animals cant get in. What do I do? Will she be okay? What do about the pecking? and what do i do about the wound?

Thanks!

If they're not pecking at her and if she's not that's not a problem as for the wound put a bit of alcohol on it. That will clean her up!

She had to have gotten that wound from somewhere, most likely from one of the other chickens. Either way, they will continue to peck at it and make it worse, red attracts their attention. I would put some BluKote on it to help hide the wound. Then keep a really close eye on them. If they keep still keep at it you'll have to remove her until it heals.

Would putting her inside for the night separating her from the others be good? Will she be sad being away from everyone?

I agree with cafarmgirl...

If it were me, I would consider doing a couple things...

Spray bluekote and closely watch to see if anyone picks - if so, you will have to separate her.

I would also put neosporin (no pain reliever one as that's toxic to chickens) on the wound and if you have to separate, it's always best to keep them in sight of each other. If that's impossible, you could TRY to bring a friend with her that is really mellow, but there's no guarantee that friend won't pick at her either.

If you have to keep her separated, in the house, alone, providing a stuffed animal would be helpful or she might cry a lot.
