Hi everyone !
Brand new duck mom here. We bought 2 yesterday from tractor supply and the guy gave us an extra one free saying it wasn’t going to make it . One leg works fine but the other sticks straight out behind it. It can’t stand. It scoots around and chirps ☹️ I thought placing it in water would help relieve some pressure but it was too scared. This morning I tried to tie it up right but it’s little body wouldn’t hold the string. Any suggestions? I don’t want the little thing to die. The leg looks to be twisted or deformed. I think it’s foot is fine bc it grips my finger when i put it under the leg. I’ll post a pic in a sec. thanks!

maybe you could try a hobble. @WannaBeHillBilly has made them and can help.

Also, get some B-complex at TSC! It's something you need to have on hand anyway if you have ducks. Lots of niacin in it. 1ml over something they will eat right away. I don't dilute it in water because they waste so much of it. Helps with leg problems!

Also add some nutritiaonal yeast to your feed. 1 TBL to 1 cup of food.

I should have told you this before but can you feel the little leg? Is it hot, swollen or obviously disconnected in any way? If not then I'd go ahead and do the hobble.

I know hillbilly works and I want to make sure you get to this right away so let me see if I can get a picture of one for you. It's really a simple thing to make. Also, I'm tagging @casportpony to see if she's got other ideas. Hold on I'm going to start to search for the hobble. @Miss Lydia is really good with this sort of thing too but she may not be on right now.

Working out of the Chicago area this week…
Is the duckling able to stand on any of its legs? - If not, the outlook is indeed not good.
One of my White Layer ducklings arrived with an injured leg this spring but was able to hop on the other leg and got around rather well. I made a hobble for her out of two zip-ties, a piece of gift-wrap-band and duct-tape:

With that on both legs, she started to put more and more weight on the injured leg and today she is almost back to normal, this is a picture of her standing. Her right leg is the injured one.

I gave her daily baths (30 minutes) together with one or two friends, so she wouldn't be so scared. Have a look into the daisy-album
If you could record a video of the duckling, upload this on YouTube and post the link here, that would be very helpful.
