Injured bird need help identifying.

My friend found this bird this morn she called me thinking it was a duck but not sure its feet aren't webbed. Here's a pic will post more info but wanted to get this out. Her leg is broke.

she has red eyes if this helps we live in southside va near nc border. I looked up crows buzzards etc. can't find anything like her.

It's an American coot...an aquatic rail.

What do you recommend I do with her.

Release it on a large pond, preferably with submerged aquatic plants. Birds can survive a broken leg on their own....I have often captured coots and ducks with only 1 leg, or a healed break....a better option than trying to care for a bird that is not easy to maintain, and it captivity would walk much more than would be good on the bad leg.
