Injured Duck

Thank you they can look pretty ratty by fall but then they molt and have beautiful feathers again. My ducks are turning whiter with every molt. The girls will be 7-8 this summer all but Ruthie who is 12. Opie my drake will be 8 in June. Have you named your drake or any of them?

I call the one eyed duck "Squeaky" because she squeaks rather than quacks. I was thinking recently that I should at least give a name to the duck that had the hook since I seem to have forged a bond with him, so it's appropriate that I give him a name. I'd have to think a good one up for him. What are the names of yours?

All nice names. You're lucky having so many females. They're not as aggressive as the drakes can be. Today while feeding Captain (I agree he probably wouldn't want the painful memory of the awful hook in his name), the other drakes were being so bullying to him by pushing him away. It seems they're getting more aggressive towards him and it's making me mad at them. :mad:
The females don't do it. They just go about their usual business, but those 4 drakes are being real nasty towards him. I had to wait till they went off and Captain hung around by himself to get to feed him.
Then from far off, they saw and all flew back to take his food. They're watching from afar! It's crazy. I'm learning how evil they can be towards their injured companions. It's really so sad.

In time will that change as he builds up his strength and gets healthy? Or once at the bottom of the pole, you stay there forever?
