Injured Duck

It’s good that he trusts you so much. :hugs:love:celebrate
:wee

After feeding them for years, I guess he knows by now i'm not going to hurt him. But he doesn't trust me completely since he wouldn't let me anywhere near the hook when it was in him. I'd love to know who and HOW the people who saved him got it out. I would have loved to have seen how they did it.

UPDATE----He's thriving! :)

The black part has disappeared around the injury. It was most likely just an ugly scab. He seems to be healing just fine and I got a clear view of the area today and got a good angle for a pic.
It looks like definitely a small part of the beak is gone in the back area where the hook was. But a small price to pay to be free of it and able to eat again. The other males continue to lower their heads at him before slowly charging to push him away from the area.
I scold them, but they're dumb as bricks and just wag their tail feathers at me and bob their heads. So to let them know what they're doing is wrong, I started to feed only him and ignore the others.
But i'm not sure if doing that would only cause jealousy and increase their anger towards him, so I threw a few pieces to the others...but only a few. Here's the pic. Zoom in to see the close up of the missing beak part. But he's happy and thriving! :)

He looks great! I know your happy yo see him doing so good and I am too. Just the thoughts of my Muscovy drake with something like that makes me hurt I am so thankful someone had pity on him. And your there to care.:love

Just seeing him energetic and happy again makes me happy. This may be a dumb question, but will that back part of his beak ever grow back? I can't imagine it affecting him in regard to eating, but it's still a sad sight to see.

I don't think so but it sure doesn't interfere with his charm or his eating right?

He's got loads of charm and is so sweet. When the others push him away he doesn't fight back. Just calmly waddles away, but when he sees me he doesn't care and he struts right past them and up to me lol. I guess if it the missing part isn't bothering him then I shouldn't worry about it. He eats and drinks just fine so I won't worry. :)
