well last night my sister spotted a bobcat and right after she passed, the 22 and I went down to where we saw and heard it last night and I saw NOTHING, but again heard something. It was walking down along the creek and seemed to get closer to me and did not mind that i was shining a huge light all over the place, nor did it mind me walking around and crunching the leaves. I actually felt that I was the one being hunted..........soooooooo............I left. End of Story

lol...no but my bf is going up there tomorrow to "take care of the problem." I will feel much better if Im not by myself. Its sad when you dont even feel safe with a loaded gun in your hand. He was going to do it tonight, but I forgot to tell is brother to charge his spot light while he was at work...oops

me too....now i have to wait till me little pullets grow up or till i get REAL lucky and find a dellie breeder near by with some extra hens laying around. And my pullets wont be as good of quality as she was im sure. What good is having a nice roo hanging around if you dont even have a hen for him.

one more thing is im wondering if the amoxicillan I gave her caused her convulsions....it was only an hour or a little less after I gave it to her that that happened....why did she have a seizure...my mom thinks she may have had a heart attack from the stress and then the seizure. She died within about 10-15 SECONDS after the seizure. Could it have been the peroxide in her wound and it leaked too far inside of her or the saline? There was an area open that led into her insides.....any thoughts...I just want to prevent this from happening again if its something I did.

Sorry for your loss.

Alergies to anitbioticis is a possibility, but going to have to be rare if you have never used it prior. Antiboitic alergies occur on the 2nd use if it is direct alergy. Peroxide probably didn't do that much damage if it was drained off and didn't fill up in her, but I am not certain on the extent of the wound. Saline, if at physiological concentration wouldn't have done anything. In the future I would omit the peroxide since it's now known to not only kill bacteria, but also kill healthy and new tissues.

More likly than not, with an injury like that, with days outside, she probably just had enough stress and possibly even internal damage that it finally overwhelmed her. She probably died just before the seizure, since as soon as you cull a bird, they will have a seizure with flapping and such. I'd just think of it as that she was in a comfortable place, and instead of fighting for her life to try and survive in the wilderness as her instinct would tell her, she could let her gaurd down and go peacefully in your care.

so after they die they have seizures? I thought it seemed wierd that she would seize or have a heartattack from stress in her sleep. I would think if that were to happen it would happen while awake. I mean, how stressed can you be in your sleep? Probably more than I realize, but still. Her head was very limp the whole time she was seizing. It was a little curled, but mostly limp. I dont know if I said this already, but I was on my lap top with her by my feet on my bed under a heat lamp with food and water in front of her and the next thing I knew, she had fallen off the bed and was flapping all over the place. She wasnt even that close to the edge. Maybe 8-12 inches.
