Hey, so basically my cockerel got into a fight with the big rooster and he's sustained quite a few injuries, any recommendations on how best to treat him?

he's been really low energy.

I looked online but there's way too much medication and ways to treat the wound, it's confusing like what's actually reliable.

It depends on the injury, if they get infected, etc. it also depends on the bird.

For wounds, I use either vetricyn or Neosporin depending on how scabbed over or dirty they are.

I keep aspirin powder for pain relief and an anti inflammatory. You can either use a micro scooper or just put a pinch into their food or water.

I keep "vet wrap" for things like sprains or (if you're hatching chicks) spraddle leg.

Figure out where you can get antibiotics ahead of time in case you'll ever need them. Infections can kill a bird very quickly.

A lot depends on the bird, too. My big cuckoo Maran survived an infected foot I was sure was going to kill him twice over. One of my other roos died from what looked like minor injuries: nicks on his comb and wattles, a bunch of pulled feathers, and he didn't like keeping one eye open (the eye looked intact). He just stopped eating and drinking.

Sometimes isolation helps, other times I've had birds take a turn for the worse when I separate them.
