Hey everyone,
I have two squabs that were from the same clutch of eggs. One of them I pulled just a few days after hatch because it looked pitiful compared to its nest mate; like the parents weren’t taking care of it. Tonight when I went to feed the other one that I left with the parents was on the ground with an empty crop and a blue and swollen beak. I have chickens in with the pigeons so it’s possible that the pigeons could’ve attacked it. Will its beak heal or is there anything I need to do to help with the swelling? I tried to feed it which I ended up force feeding it because it doesn’t understand how to eat out of a syringe but when I opened its mouth, the inside is swollen too. I just want to be sure this little one will be ok. Also, I weighed it and its original nest mate and the one I brought in the house first weighs over 100 grams more than it does. Sorry for the long post I’m just worried! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
