Injured squab

Hey everyone,

I have two squabs that were from the same clutch of eggs. One of them I pulled just a few days after hatch because it looked pitiful compared to its nest mate; like the parents weren’t taking care of it. Tonight when I went to feed the other one that I left with the parents was on the ground with an empty crop and a blue and swollen beak. I have chickens in with the pigeons so it’s possible that the pigeons could’ve attacked it. Will its beak heal or is there anything I need to do to help with the swelling? I tried to feed it which I ended up force feeding it because it doesn’t understand how to eat out of a syringe but when I opened its mouth, the inside is swollen too. I just want to be sure this little one will be ok. Also, I weighed it and its original nest mate and the one I brought in the house first weighs over 100 grams more than it does. Sorry for the long post I’m just worried! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It should heal fine that part of the beak might die or fall, I could be wrong.
I would make sure it's still eating . The parents will normally kick there baby bird out of the nest if they are hurt.

How is it doing today? In the pictures you posted yesterday it does not look like it's in pain.

It is doing about the same as yesterday. It sounds awful but I’m force feeding it to make sure it eats since it doesn’t know how to eat out of a syringe. It doesn’t eat near as much as its hatch mate does but I’m hoping I’ll get there with time and patience. I’ll post a couple more pictures once I get home

It does not sound awful! When I rescue baby birds I always have to force feed them 🥰. Glad you are able to feed it a little bit of food.
If you need anymore help please ask me!

Thank you! Here are pics of its beak tonight. Do you really think it might fall off? He won’t have a top half of his beak at all if it does. Can he survive like that? Also the end of the bottom part of his beak is crooked. Maybe I’m just worrying too much but I feel so bad for him!!

So he has slight cross beak. Looking at it again, I don't think it will fall if and if it does it will grow back just like chickens. I've actually rescued one with half a beak gone. Any way make sure it gets some food so it has energy. Please keep me posted and feel free to ask any questions.

I keep shoving a little more food down his throat each time I feed him! Honestly I didn’t know their beaks grew back so that makes me feel better. Thanks for all your help I appreciate it!
