Our 6 year old turkey hen has an injury that I didn't realize was there til tonight because of how she was standing tonight. It appears to be a breeding injury, there is bad swelling and it is very infected, I sprayed vetricin in and all over the wound. I would like to give her baytril but don't currently have any of the liquid kind on hand, I only have 68 mg tablets from my dog and I'm wondering if I can use that and how much as I think it would take too long to get the liquid baytril for birds in the mail.

@casportpony Would be the one person I would ask for help figuring out if it would be ok to use those.

Can you get a clear picture of the area?

This is the best pic I could get of the wound... the slimy looking stuff is vetricyn that I sprayed on it...

That can be given. Shoot for 7 mg per pound twice a day.
Turkey weighs approximately 12.6 lbs. So I should give her 88.2 mg 2x/day? I'm just want to make sure that's right cause my 10lb. dog only got ¼ tablet once/ day, I know they are 2 different kinds of animals I just want to make sure I don't o.d. my turkey.

The poultry dose is much higher than the cat & dog dose, it's 10-15 mg/kg (4.54-6.81 mg per pound) twice a day. Go ahead and give one 68 mg tablet twice a day.

Ok... thank you so much... would it be ok to break it into quarters and wrap in small pieces of bread and put it in her mouth or should it be crushed and mixed with water. Also wondering if I should give her some Meloxicam for pain , I have 15 mg tablets. She does seem to be in pain and didn't eat much tonight...
