Hi All, I know 8 weeks is very young for a silkie but I thought I would ask for opinions.

To add difficulty my silkie has been an extreme runt “her” whole life, it was a bit touch and to at the beginning but now we have a very healthy vibrant, tiny chick.

I have assumed pullet until proven otherwise, but I’ve noticed my almost 11 week old silkie cockerel has been singling this one out and pretty roughly pecking it for no apparent reason… but I can’t tell if he’s trying to grab her poof to hurt her or maybe hold her down as the first steps of trying to mount? He hasn’t actually gone as far as trying to mount any pullets that I’ve seen but none of the females he’s with are at POL .. some are older and closer to his size. Maybe he’s trying to put a young cockerel in its place? This behavior isn’t all the time, but daily. This young runt is very very docile, and does not act like a cockerel whatsoever but I know that’s not a sure sign either way.

Any guesses on sex, or input why I’m seeing this behavior from the confirmed cockerel?

Pics of charzard, the chick in question and one of butter, my confirmed cockerel.

Just updating for anyone in the future, charzard is 14 weeks old and still as tiny as can be, but I am pretty certain she’s a pullet!
