Insulted

Who knows what the rep's issues were, whether male or female, and although it happens at times in any biz there's never any reason for that type of behavior from a supplier rep even if you were a complete stranger with a one time job. Perfect opportunity to parlay the situation into a sweet discount

which is a lesson that will not be overlooked nor soon forgotten by the powers that be. For years I have worked in a male dominated industry and have pretty much experienced it all and could write a book, lol. I negotiate large accounts and contracts with suppliers and would, gracefully, never accept such behavior from a rep. Hoping you're able to negotiate to your benefit.

DO it. I'm sure others out there besides myself would be delighted in negotiating skills in the face of this problem. Do tell! Blog even.

Well Dewey since I do not plan on going back there I figure there is nothing to negotiate.

Called the other lumber yard but they do not have a contract or account with the supplier of the board I am looking for, but they called me back and told me all the local guys who do.
I'm happy with them.

When I called the makers of this board I spoke to both men and women and they were all very helpful.
I spoke with the guy about painting this board, thinking it was not possible, but he explained how it can be done and what needs to be done
also what sizes we would need for the floor, walls and ceiling. Very happy with them.

Years ago I drove my Volkswagon into a repair place and asked them for the cost of fixing a problem with my steering.

The guy told me I needed a whole new transmission and that it would cost several thousand dollars and he could have it done in two weeks.

I said, 'I'll think about it'.

He said, 'Oh no, you can't drive this home, you will have a terrible accident, let me call your husband to come and drive you home'.

I said, 'Son, I'm a mechanic, it's a teensy part in the steering box, it should not cost several thousand dollars but rather several dollars, it should take about five minutes to fix, and I've been driving it like that for about seven years'.

I just liked to do that every once in a while.
