I'm in that awful time when I'm not sure if a newbie will wander off somewhere or slip through the livestock fencing and get eaten by the dog nextdoor. They're doing pretty well so far, though.
Something is right in the air this week from Ga to Va!
My 4 blue orp pullets from my March hatch have started laying! My first black orp from Bonnie hatched this week. I have a full dozen eggs for the bator from my big red roo!
Love you pics! I am fast approaching my 1 year chicken anniversary since I started this whole project. It has been full of fun and some heartache. I think there are new chicks in my future, and it is always great to read about successes like yours!
We couldn't have asked for a smoother transition, that's true! Now, if a couple other things could smooth out, I'd be in hog heaven! Congrats, MissP! Sounds like things are looking up at your place. Glad you're feeling better.
Hoosierhen, I predict LOTS more chicks in your future! And it's not a hard prediction to make. For now, I'm done with my flock. I have all I need, 50 something birds in all, and I'm full to capacity-I even need to expand Suede's coop to make room for his new ladies, just five weeks old now.
I have ben trying to put an older hen with a hen roo combo, so their will be two hens for the roo and the younger hen just beats up the older hen, we have been trying to put then together for the past four months.
Do you have a pic of Suede posted on another thread? I would love to see him. Just his name makes me think of soft smooth feathers! I know he must be a gorgeous boy!!
