Interested in learning about raising chickens

Hello, my name is Dan.

I've found forums on other subjects to be helpful communities of knowledgeable people. I hope I can learn from the members of this site and one day contribute in return.
I'm interested in buying hatching eggs and thought that this would be a good website for recommendations on respected and/or local hatcheries. Being the first time I've raised chickens, I'd also like advice on the proper way to hatch and care for chicks.

As a cat rescuer and dog trainer, I have a lot of experience with animal behavior and enclosure construction. I think that these skills will transfer to caring for chickens as well.

Hope to talk to you guys on the boards and I appreciate any advice you can offer.
