We picked up our first chickens on Saturday - 3 Barred Plymouth Rocks, and 2 EE (billed as Ameraucana...but I can't tell the difference LOL). The EE's were hatched mid-January and the rocks were hatched at the end of January.
Hubby and I noticed last night that they went from being basically quiet to a lot of little peepy noises as the sun went down and they started getting sleepy. We've also noticed that our little cross-beaked girl purrs when she's pleased with something, which is not a noise I expected to hear from chickens.
So when do they usually start making the clucks?
