Thank you Overthehenhouse . The quaker coop has my small chickens , D'uccles , batam cochins . The barn was alot of work this summer with the extreme heat we had here in OKlahoma .
And Rockin R Farm would like to see your barn pens . The chickens were so much cooler in the lean-to and had no sick chickens this summer . Lots of ventilation is my guess . I am a newbe and now up to 83 chickens , yikes !
Sorry I am just now responding to the quote, I will they and remember when I go out in a bit to check on e eryone to get some shots of the pens. Right now they just have the pens to be in, I am debating on making them an area to get out of the weather when it gets colder but that would mean taking away an area inside the barn that will be used as my hatching / brooder area.
I may just get some heavy duty plastic and their coops in. I knew a bird breeder that did this and her birds stayed warm. As long as I have a deep litter method going in their runs that will help keep them warm as well.
That is not bad 83 chickens, I had over a 100 last year, we think some coyotes got some when the drought started and a stray dog. We are not in that area anymore and so far so good.
