Internal Layers and Other Egg Issues....Will this never end?? LONG

Oh, Cyn! I am so sorry to hear your girls are in such poor shape. It's very hard to watch something you love suffer this way. I do hope that they all pull through this though it does not sound good at all.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about what is going on, Cynthia. I am praying things get better for your hens! I bet 2009 is going to be a great year for you after all the bad luck you have been having.

DH brought Rosemary inside. She has quit eating. Wont even touch a blueberry, something that previously would have perked her up in a major way. He's sitting on the couch with her in his lap. Ivy isn't quite that bad yet-she was scarfing down berries like there's no tomorrow. And there may not be for Rosemary. I offered her more berries just now, so she could take her time and didn't have to compete for them, and she just looked at them and closed her eyes.

Me, too. We hold out hope that it's something fixable, but it never is. It's a hormonal imbalance, but caused by what? Has to be either genetics or feed. Cant be feed unless there is something in all chicken feeds that we aren't being told. We've not used one feed their whole lives. I vote genetics, something in the breeders these hatcheries use, something in their feeds or medicines. It's frustrating as heck to watch one after another of my girls go down this same heartbreaking road.

Well dang it all...it just is not fair. Poor girls do their jobs and wiggle into our hearts and then must go through this. I know how awful you feel about it Cyn.

I do so hope they pass peacefully or mend. Have you considered hysterectomy? I mean what are your thoughts on the surgery for them rather than letting them go?

I just do not know what I would do, I guess it would depend on the bird, her age and etc.

Sending prayers to you and the ladies.
