Internal Pipping

Day 30 - wow that's long! I do exactly the same with the incubator a get a temperature between the incubator reading sensor on the top and my personal thermometer/hydrometer reading on bottom.
All in brooder now as I prefer to get them in there as soon as possible. I find recovery from hatch slower in incubator plus I have a really small/cheap bator so when hatching 6 duck eggs it's very crowded in there! Moreover, I find that (specifically the weak ones), rather than leave them in the bator a bit confused, I join them with their siblings and they immediately pick up. The assisted hatch that I had to do this morning for the egg that pipped wrong end and was struggling, looked so weak in the incubator. I transferred him/her over about an hour ago having only spent 3 hours in incubator and he/she is already bounding around!

This is the one that I assisted hatch this morning 3 hours ago..........

Oooooh my gosh! I am in love! What lovely markings. What type of ducks are yours?
We are getting somewhere - egg 3 has a big hole now and egg 1 has started to zip. I’ll play it by ear keeping them in there but I’ll definitely be happier when they’re in the brooder same as you! Hopefully there won’t be too much time between the two so I can get them both out at the same time and leave egg 2 to cook a little longer. Still no pip from him. He’s a confusing one!

Mine are rare welsh magpies, but instead of the normal black and white markings, these are lavendar and white and chocolate and white, although I do suspect a couple will be black and white - god love em! I have a mixed flock with 1 x Buff Orpington, 1 x Peach Campbell, 1 x Aylesbury, 2 x Cayugas (1st hatch) and 2 x Silver Appleyards (2nd hatch).
