International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I posed this question on a thread about pullets laying double yolk eggs and got a response that this should level out and is common. Don't know if it is the feed over here that makes it common. What I read on the thread from people that have experienced this is that it will level off in a month or so and I will get regular eggs. I just think it is odd that out of all the hens I have raised I have never had it happen until I got the Cuckoos.

RedBank to make the thing easier for you I m going to tell you a double yolk laying pullets is not a breeder for sure .

all you flock are fine . So that pullets in genetically incorrect .
Selective breeding . if she doesn t perform than is not a true breeder.

catch her and put her with your layer flock . Don t take risk .

Okay.... Okay..... I won't say it again. I pledge allegiance to the French SOP. You have to forgive me I have been brainwashed to cull every bird for some reason or another. No one ever said.... do this and fix them. At least not until now!

that good RedBank we are learning how to breed a proper Marans chooks to they full glory .

we ll fix this chooks for sure .it is not a big deal . it is fun to do, especially when you will see the first result .it is rewarding .

that is great .you know what you want ,it is very important .

I like that ,focus your energy on the BCM .create your line and work them out first , that cool .

Yes..... very beautiful. I know..... thank goodness you are patient and passionate about the chooks or you would have given up on me a long time ago.

I do not give up on no body . I m a man of my word.we are going to do this ,breed a pure Marans chooks .

I like the chooks and the peoples who work with them as well.

I m fascinated about how much we can do with our chooks . life time work . Artistic work Not some chooks left neglected in the backyard .

international marans breeding project , it is for every one as long as they don t bring different standard to the equation .

What a nice prize for your hard work. Glad he was worth your efforts, hopefully one day I will be confident in my ability and take up a few other varieties of marans. The brown-reds are proving enough of a challenge when trying to mentally memorize and picture the standards.

Don t to worry you will get there , every thing need time .

stick to the BCM for now and slowly expend .

working with many different varieties within a breed is easier ( because is a same standard , different colors ) than working with with many breed ( different standard ,confusing )

try to understand the difference between the Genotype ( genetic make up ) and the phenotype ( the physical expression ) that will help you with you genetic work .

we have a plenty of time to talk about all this sort of thing.

It is going to be a cool work when you will get the eggs from RedBank and start working on a good line of pure BCM .

one day you will have a yard full of a great marans chooks. just be patient .

all the best .

chooks man.
