International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

here in Oz the marans chooks sale very fast . high demand.
I m not sure how does work over there where you are .

Black copper are famous for they dark eggs laying ability .but as plumage colour goes it is not the most impressive marans variety .

Wishing you all the best! You have knowledge and skill my friend. I don't believe luck plays much of a role. I wish I had a tenth of the knowledge you have and a good eye would help. I am so happy you are back to help and share with us this knowledge.

Hahaha! I'm gonna tell a funny on myself. I was chatting with this other chicken person online once and they said they were from Oz. My mind automatically thought they meant Kansas! Oz definitely was not in Kansas.. don't know what I was thinking. Guess it was really in Australia, who knew!

I m trying to share with you guys what I know to breed a great marans that all .

thank you my friend .I m really pleased . .
how can I not be pleased when I just scored 4 Colombian marans .the rarest marans variety .
my friend who bred them got the parent from me this year when I sold my chooks .but he bred a lot black tail buff only few Colombian .
I asked him to put a silver rooster back with a hens to get more colombian fertile eggs .
they are grteat type and great body marking .some they still have some extra red on them ,not a problem .

my Araucan are British ,crested with the ear muffs and beard . better than the white one I had they did not have a ear muffs .

I m only going to breed few marans varieties this time .I want to focus on my strain I m going to make the MARNECK .

my Marneck will be blend of a Marans .Araucana .Naked neck and Cream Legbar.
how I m going to proceed to make this strain .I ll tell you later when I start .

when will you start your marneck project? could you, please, tell us about that?

I am curious what kind of comb they will have. I did work with Na Na naked necks and it is much tougher than the statistics say. I got very few naked necks (40% instead of 25%). I would mix all the other breeds first then add naked necks. otherwise you will be making a lot of soup, lol.

@Chooks man will they lay olive eggs? I am interested to create olive eggers that breed true for olive eggs. again, statistcs say that at some point we can get any colour of egg (F4 or later).
