International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

OK I see .they are both equal except the cockerel #2 has a better tail and well marked hackle .
Elegant seem to have a longer back.

breed the Elegant to your Black hen to see if both of them are a carriers of Extended Black.

Breed #2 cockerel to the Blue cuckoo hen they come with him .to get some Birchen .

happy for you ,you have new blood to work with .working with just a BCM is boring .very hard to breed .every body breed BCM but only few achieved the proper marking .

I will leave breeding for autumn. as I have a witch neighbor I want to move even before I build the house. is there any chance I can keep all the roos together so that I can make 1 boy's and 1 girl's coop? I am afraid they would kill each other. I have 3 marans, 1 british araucana, 1 greek hooded, 1 rumpless araucana and 1 silkie roo.

this BCM cockerel has extra marking on his chest . this type of cockerel are good to be matted to a Black hens to add hackle to them.

I will not use this guy over a BCM hen with a good hackle marking .they progeny will be over marked .

a friend of mine hatched a cockerel that has comb similar to this one. the cockerel is about 8 weeks old. the egg was from his friend's farm. we don't know what those marans look like and what colour eggs they lay. the cockerel was hatched from at least #4-5 egg. should we take a chance and keep him?

you can try ,they ll fight for sure .
it is easier for the rooster to bond if there is not hens around .
my rooster are always grouped in large groups .

cockerel with a nice comb don t come so often ,so if your friend has one like mine he/she better keep him .

I've got to finish some cockerel grow out pens myself. No one tends to want to buy the boys, and once they reach puberty they can become a nuisance until I butcher them... But I want them to get old enough to see who is worth keeping and who is dinner. So many pens needed!

I ll breed him to his half sister splash copper and other splash pullet from different line .
want to start a pure splash copper line . love they body marking .

I am going to be getting a Black Copper Cockerel. How is the Blue from a Black Copper X Splash Copper? What are the best combinations of Blue/Black/Splash? They say Blue Copper X Blue Copper is not good because it dilutes the Blue. Any other combos that you like or dislike and why?
