International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

A Blue copper is not genetically a pure variety .it is a semi washed up Black . it is just a plumage shade .
to get a correct shade of blue .a person has to breed them new each time from a Black copper rooster over a Blue copper hen . F1 progeny.
never ,never ,never use a Blue copper rooster over a Blue copper hens .very bad practice .

Marans people how make the SOP do many mistake . they don t accept a Splash { Breed true} as variety but they want to force a blue instead . the Genetic does not listen to people . it is a low of nature ,has to be respected .

would blue copper roo mated to a black copper hen give good results too?

Chooks man, Here are some pictures of my clean Birchen rooster and his three ladies. The Blue Birchen pullet is his favorite and looks awful. This Blue is the one you liked best out of my Blue silver last year.

Sorry everyone post and picture heavy.
Chick pictures! Top two pictures 9 Coppers. I have never seen such light Blue Copper but feathering in dark. Four white on pink towel. Then 6 Birchen pen with clean rooster. Three chicks in last picture are from pen from unclean rooster.

do not get ready of this rooster ,his silver is price less .don t to worry about a copper dot around hi head . we will breed it out .
he has too many great thing to pass down to his progeny .
you can back cross to him but you can out cross him to others .

every thing about him is great .body type ,tail and deep chest .

With more pictures of him and the other rooster. Do you feel the same about this rooster? I will try and do what you think is best. Just remember I have a husband that limits my hatching so I will not be able to hatch more than 2 to 3 hatches a year. It will be a much slower process. He wants me to get rid of my Marans completely but no way. I won't go for that at all! They are my favorite!

I really like this quad . lovely in many area .love every thing about them .
a lot of gorgeous chicks will hatch from those guys .
focus on them ,they are good breeders . they do have all the good traits you are looking for to breed true .

Which quad? The one with the three Blue Birchen hens or the one with the two Birchen and one Blue Birchen?

those Copper chicks have too much white on them .
I like the the black and blue chick in the corner without white on they head .

don t hatch many of those . they are not going to take you any where .
wait tell we get you a nice BCM rooster to work with next year .

it is the easiest and a beautiful variety to breed . can t wait to see them grown up .love the splash marans .
