International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

It does help. Quite a bit. I didn't realize there was that much variation between blue chicks of similar lineage. Now I know. Thanks again!

@UThobbyfarmer,

Blue is basically diluted black which is why blue does not breed true. BLCM x BLCM mating is generally not recommended (because the blue color will be all over the spectrum) unless you are wanting Splash Chicks. BCM x BLCM is always preferred if you want a nice datk blue with lacing.

That's so good to know. It clarified things perfectly.

I added the first batch of babies to the big pen with my white Marans. The first batch is about 10 weeks old now. Then I put the youngest ones in the pen the older ones came out of. All is going well so far!

@marchick,

I always look forward to moving today! Glad all is going well for you! My GFF chicks are 4 and 5 weeks old this week (2 different batches) from their 3 lines. We’re gonna be at 98 degrees next week so I’m gonna move my chicks from the Barn to the Big Boy/Girl Pen this weekend.

Take Care,
Keith

This may be the easiest transition ever. They are coming out of the house and into the pen with the adults. I just moved them this morning.
