happy NY to you ,wishing you all the best .

we had a bad Saturday ,one of the worst 48 DC with a hot wind and smoke . lost 8 breeding hens and 3 No breeding roosters .
5 hens all sisters dominant white .Kako was one of them .
Baby Blue
Bent Comb
Kali

few still stressed .give them today Vitamin C and a lot wet food . it is cooler 25 DC expecting some rain .

the young stock handle the heat better ,no sign of any distress . well pleased .

Lucky me I bred from them all .so life continue .all natural .

sorry for your loss.

I keep a few plastic dishes with water in summer when it is hot. my chickens spend hours sitting in water. I add cold water from time to time. I also spill some water in dirt so some of them have muddy bath to cool down.

good move my friend .nice to see you posting about your chooks .
big hen will always produce big progeny .proven formula .

I brought a few chickens back on the island where I will stay this winter. day 1 my german shepherds got 3 girls, among them bcm pullet. luckily they didn't kill them. bcm pullet and easter egger hen are limping but as they are eating I hope they will be ok.

as I can see my german shepherds must have a steady enclosure for day time and can be free only at night when my poultry will be safely closed in their coops.

was just too hot and smoky , normally they are used to the heat ,but heat and smoke in a same time was too much for some . plus they are fully outdoor .
