I have quite a few people getting in touch with me wanting free chicks. I have way too much into my line to give them away. It was around $250 just for the last two pullets shipped to me. No one on this thread just people I have met. Some I have communicated with over the internet but never met. I think they could just buy birds from the same person I did. I feel bummed. I don't like being put in this spot. Does this make me a bad person? What would you guys do?
They will be breeding and selling for sure. I do not think they have ever put birds in a show. Every part of me is sending up red flags. Maybe I should raise them up first then if they want what I don't keep. I know this sounds awful. I still have my original rooster. I could hatch from him and my spare hens/pullets. They would still end up with really nice birds to work with but not my best and they would have to put in some work.I do give away the cull pullets to people who are looking for layer .they have to be good to animal .some people have a time and space but no money to buy chooks .
I do not give chicks away .I have to select for my self first .
I keep the great ones
I sale the good ones
I place a cull pullets to good home .
I butcher the all the cull cockerels for my own need ,my dogs and few friend who help me around the farm when I need help .
I sale extra eggs to my friends .helps with a chooks feed .
Do no feel bad about any thing my friend .

I would be taking pictures. I did that surgery once because I was desperate. I had never done one before. She didn't make it though. I should never get attached to a chicken!Today, we may be performing crop surgery on an impacted crop. Just enough is making it through that she is getting water and a tiny bit of food enough to poo, but it's not clearing. I'm really lucky that my mother happens to be a veterinarian and her partner is willing to give surgery a go. Should I take pictures of the surgery or no?
Retired hens and extra cull cockerels usually go for 5 bucks and I can find buyers. Chicks are 10, POL pullets are 20. Most other stuff is negotiable, depending on people, but I'm too poor to give things away, I have to pay their food bill from their sale or hubby says I can't keep them. They must at least pay their own feed.
That is a lot of work. How many do you have total? It will leave you a lot of chicken to eat my friend! Lollast Sunday I tagged the pullets from group #4 . so far I managed to tag 121 pullets from the 4 groups .still have 2 more group #5 and #6 to do ,I think there is around 80 to 100 pullets .only have 79 leg ring left . my goal was to tag 200 pullets and 50 cockerels . I m getting there I think .
there is way too many cockerels ,more than pullets for sure .
I m only counting the chicken i tag not the rest .
