International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Australia's weather has been on our news here a lot recently. Just last night they showed some waterfalls and were saying because of the wind the water was running up instead of down the falls ! Amazing ! No mother nature does not play around !
I truly hope you have no damages or losses from all of this bad fire and flooding. We get hurricanes here and lost almost everything except family and pets during a bad flood several years ago. Home, everything in it, 2 autos, camper, shop full of tools...it was awful. Thankfully all family and pets got out in time. We had some insurance to help, too. Some were not so lucky. There were locals who died. It was a very tough time.
Fires and floods are scary! Look out for yourself, be careful!

Hope your injured pullets recover. Was Asad playing or ???? Maybe he just needs more training?

me and my animals we fine .
Asad was trying to move the pullets from they pen to a big shed . try to herd them I guess .
he is not a pure Germain shepherd . he is a cross with some herding dog?

Sorry you've been sick too.

Been doing some chicken shopping, huh? Sounds like you've got some great one's line up! I had to look up the pita pinta asturiana...lovely bird...what a looker!

I'd also love to end up with some blue coppers and splash. I only have 4 black copper hens. I do have other birds but not marans. Problem for me is I'm finding it difficult locating any decent marans here.
My only rooster is a maran mix. His mom was a black copper hen who laid a dark egg but his dad was a mutt, Australorp/Buff Orpington. He is now 4.5 years old and follows me like a puppy, a really sweet guy. He gets to stay even if I have to give him a few of my older girls and start a separate flock.

Meet my boy Elwood.

my german shepherds are not chicken dogs at all. I will build them a run and keep them in there day time and at night when the chickens are locked they will run free and watch the property. there are foxes, minks, etc.

I decided to join the club of FBCM. I picked up 20 eggs yesterday and they are now sitting in the incubator. Very nice dark colored eggs considering the time of year. Figured I would document my journey on here so here is the first picture. I will update as I go along.
