International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Culled all my marans last night. 13 beautiful birds. When i went out before dark to try and grab some, 1 little pullet ran to me and jumped into my lap.
Yep.... Bawled my eyes out.

Bleaching the coops and raking out the runs for the next few days in this hot humid carolina weather is rough.

On a lighter note, 9 bcm eggs made it to lock down, 4 pipped so far. Gotta get the roof put on that new coop for them....

I am so sorry! I would have been crying my eyes out also! Glad you are getting some chicks to hatch.

Well, Black Jack is the larger fuller of the 2 BC cockerels. I had to go out and figure it out. When they get older I will leg band. He is the one in the middle posing.

They told me they wouldn't ship them without it. I shipped birds back to HM that he didn't mean to send. I think shipping older birds and day old chicks is different.

I've only ever shipped older birds. They never asked me to sign any waiver. Maybe there are different regulations for every state.

They told me to file a claim when the lady received the shipment and the birds were dead.

Is he a BCM? I was told he was just a reg Copper Maran but had a look at a few of these birds and now I think differently. Sadly he passed away today due to reasons unknown, I suspect the turkey tom and him fought or the dogs got him. Second image are two Copper Maran (or do I think) hens and the yellow one is a CM x Orpington mix.

He is a wheaten Marans. Sorry that he passed away.

great to hear Black Jack is a larger ,chunkier one .look good gorgeous copper coming along .
BC pullets next to the water is gorgeous .
