International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I am hoping Jade and storm are not carrying white. No white in foot feathers. I have their eggs in now.

if they are not showing any white any where it is a good start .
I think you are going to fix it fast ,because you know now the eggs from each hen ,very ,very important , easy to eliminate any problem when they appear by removing the hen responsible .

Very Bad news Jasper now has a white foot feather. I think I might have a very large layer flock.

I believe she is but need to double check. This line is funny because they get the white later on.

it is always best to breed from the old mature stock .
we are doing it wrong by breeding from young stock ,nothing we can do about it ,we are just building our stock ,so we can start selecting .
we can t breed out all the faults in one year . step by step .
body type and egg color has to be bred first .
than come body color.
than parasitic white to breed out
than comb/feet feathers etc .............

don t get discouraged by some white feathers , we trying to breed ,if we have nothing to fix ,so what we doing .
great chooks lines don t come out from a thin air .need years and years of selective breeding .
I know peoples how worked over 10 years to fix they lines .

you chooks have great correct body type and well color eggs .they have great eyes . they have great feets .they have great tails . and can keep going .
so because they showed some white than they become layer> wow .that simple . take years of hard work to reach the stage your chooks are in .they are in good place as breeders . not yet as show line ,
now you are fixing the bad stuff .breeding in the copper and breeding out the parasitic white .

enjoy breeding your chooks ,don t make it so clinical . they have to be perfect other wise they don t breed .
just help them out ,work with them .don t dismiss them

Is there still a chance of getting rid if it? I thought since Jasper has it. All his offspring would too. Could him being bred to storm. If she is truly free produce ones free of white?
