International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Do I do double pens like before. BC rooster over BLC hens in one pen. BLC rooster in the other pen over BC hens?

we will see how they turn up and ho is the best . we know what we are looking for .
let see when next breeding time arrives . for now let them grow and stop thinking about it ,enjoy the process of watching them growing .

Agree with you .Black Jack is solid as tree .
love that gorgeous copper and body marking on Ace .

I like when 2 brother are not the same but the complete each other . that give 2 cockerels to work with in different breeding program .

I like them both .you have done well . starting from BLC parent stock . you should be proud .

So I was a little worried about Black Jack. I had been noticing he had fluid in his crop. I was worried he had sour crop or impacted. I Just checked him this morning and it was completely drained.

BC cockerel .My Boy 7 month old now . gorgeous correct copper .full body pattern .
hi tail is little open but right angle .need work
his comb need some too .

he is from group#6 youngest groups . been separated from his girls friend ,he is not happy about it .

he will be the first to breed from next month . will be paired with my 3 oldest BC hens .

Very nice! You have put in a lot of hard work and produced beautiful birds. I couldn't imagine hatching that many Marans and growing them out. The 63 I hatched are way too many for me.

3 cockerels I left them with they sisters . could not pen them they big brothers .they just smash them .

2 are good and one BLC in chunky buff goofy . loose plumage .

Day Walker #2 { junior } 8 1/2 month old BTB . sired by DW over Unicorn
all elegance /grace and beauty .

Enkido 8 1/2 month old Red Pyle marans sired by Day Walker { I thought was Enki s son tell I checked his papers } over Unicorn .
with his tail fully growing he realy look like Day walker ,he is similar looking to Day Walker #2 his youngest brother .
He do have Split wing both side .you can see it very clearly in the photo. . Doesn t matter ,because from over 30 chicks from this pair ,he is the only one with this deformity .
