A big part of getting that silver was from starting from what I got from Rodney 7 years ago. The biggest flaw from his group was side sprigs, but I've worked mostly through that and cull them when I see them. The original sire, Jake, had nice silver, but I had so much culling because he had sprigs and I had to wait until he produced a son with both a good silver and no sprigs, Jack. Both cocks lasted 2-3 years, now Jackson, son of Jack, is hitting his retirement. He's being harrassed by his sons and it's time for him. I really like that cockerel too, there's about 5 out of 100 that I'm really looking at. I'm going to have to mark all of the ones in the running for replacement. I'm definitely liking this batch over last year's, as Mr Big isn't there domineering so his dirty silver isn't a factor. Mr Big's line survives, however, in Albedo. It was in the greenfire line that the recessive white cropped up.
