@marchick you have stunning, beautiful birds. What a hard decision.
I will solve your problem and take the cockerels you dont need. Problem solved.

@Bunny-bum you can never have too many coops!

Im going to have to fence in part of our deck underneath. I need just ONE MORE coop. Were on a steep slope so I will be able to walk right in. Ha

Thank you! You really do need to turn that into a pen. This time around has been the most difficult time deciding. I have basically 7 roosters counting Jasper that are in the running. I can only keep 3 or 4 at the most. I have 4 favorites Black Jack, Ace, white band and the one that had spots. Boy do they need names! Lol

There are some really attractive Marans you guys are breeding. I'm so happy that Rick gets to see another day!!! I was rooting for him!! I especially have a soft spot for those white and black marans...just gorgeous! Are they called Silver marans?

@Chooks man we missed you!!! Glad you are back with time enough to post on here.

I am excited to say that I have breeding pens!! My big open "rooster pen" was divided on the weekend into 4 pens. They all have roosts, and can be expanded with little chicken doors so I can give more space to the birds when the other pens aren't in use.
I've also got power out there now so I can add light for my hens and heated waterers etc.. The roosters that are out there are a bit confused why their house has been turned into condos.

One of my marans pullets (the blue one) is broody. She is 23 weeks old. I haven't had a pullet go broody before? Any of you?
Also- one of my marans pullets is laying a huge egg suddenly- 70-80 grams. The one I cracked this morning had something weird --- the yolk had a membrane around it. So when I cracked it, and it fell into the bowl, the yolk appeared white. So I scooped out the yolk and had to rip the membrane, and out came the yolk.! Anyone ever had this before?
