Negan will go in the freezer.
I dont have room for just having a pet.
I wish i did though.

you worked hard for it . a freezer sound good to me .
we eat some .we keep some .maybe some time we sale some .and we loose a lot when we raise them ,way of life .nothing wrong .all naturel .

does not mater if we only breed the full sibling ones .we just have to hatch more .
they could be half sibling . that will be great .
breeding from half sibling is the best method to fix traits and build a new line .
you do have pullets line #1 too . that will give us a different progeny .

I am able to buy some very dark marans eggs this spring if i want them. They are from Georgia about 2 hours away from me.

But i dont want to add any more lines to my breeding unless you guys think it is a good idea to.

ho said you don t add lines .I did not say that .
for me many lines to start with is better ,genetic diversity . yes for sure more problem to deal with in the short run ,but more traits to select from . { fixing or breeding out }
if the eggs are dark than GET them .we need to get some low tails strains if possible .

can you ask the breeder to send you some photos of the breeder flock please .so want to see the tails set .

I don’t worry about a white foot feather as much because feet feathers will turn white when damaged. I agree that white underffluff and tail feathers is a no go unless I have no other options. Parasitic white can be bred out but just takes several generations. All other traits of your Marans are correct so you get to where you want to be in time.

I hope that youngest cockerel turns out good. At least his white is minimal. Only a small amount under the hackles so far. If I could breed him to a clean BC hen.
