Chicks are looking really good! Be interesting to see how they grow out.
I like their hatch down too.
They were only hours old.
Tomorrow they will be stronger to stand.
Most of my line #1 chicks had bad hatch down. Tons of white.
I remember Chooks Man saying that a lot of white shows they are sensitive towards parasitic white as adults.
This ended up being very true with that line.
But what i dont understand is, how can these chicks have nice, correct hatch down when i know their sires all have a big problem with parasitic white?
Its a mystery to me.
Although i do tend to over-analyze things...

Looks beautiful.
I miss the snow.
It makes everything so quiet.
nice pics but I do not miss snow at all!
I bought 15 eggs.
9 made it to lockdown and 9 hatched.
The last one I assisted expecting it to die but so far it is still alive in the brooder. It was sticky.
I will make sure to keep the humidity down while they are hatching next time.
Here are pictures of some of them.
Tomorrow i will get individual pics.

Thank you for the explanation.it is not that simple ,it is not one gene we are dealing with .if it is we will call it the
it is not that simple .it is called parasitic white because it is not a genes .it is many parasites attacking the feathers at the color production areas .
correct hatch down like your ,mean they pure ER/ER strain { BCM } no other variety is crossed to them , they are genetically free from any white feathers .but that does not mean they feathers can not be affected by other form of parasitic white . when they are injured or sick etc................ .
there is many type of parasite .affecting the feathers at any stages of they form .it is not all genetic can be caused by many other thing .like inbreeding , bad or imbalanced nutrition at molting stage . .
your chicks genetic hatch down are correct .so should be easier to breed any form of parasitic white from them . they have a proper foundation .
breeding from an older birds ,molted few time and still did not show any parasitic white is the best method to breed fix this problem . peoples are breeding from young unproven birds .
