it is not about late maturing ,that cockerel will throw only black pullets .

I also have 2 cockerels and 4 pullets from the same breeder that are 2 months old. I bought the eggs to hatch when i thought i had all cockerels from this first batch. They will be added to line #3 when old enough. They came from the same flock.

yes .very breed from dark shoulder rooster except if you want to breed solid black pullets .
shoulder coloration is controlled by Autossomal Red gene . when the shoulder are black ,that mean the bird carry access of Melanin .
