that is good news ,we don t have to breed them all ready done .
Bella Luna and Judith are not in this pen?
chooks man
They are in the pullet line pen.
I got a little confused when I separated all the hens for breeding. I think Bella Luna was supposed to be in the cockerel pen.

Judith2 is JR sister so I don't think she is supposed to breed to him.

I will get photos of all of the pullet line too.

you had a lot of hens for sure .
how may cockerels and pullets you have now?
chooks man
14 cockerels growing out.

Not sure about pullets yet.
I have ages 1 day to 3 weeks old in the brooder that need to be sexed as they grow.

An interesting observation:

Chicks from cockerel line have nice hatch down. Short down, brown head spot, sooty grey chest.

Pullet line chicks have longer hatch down, penguin type color.

it is very interesting observation .2 different type completly . I like that .
it is a reason I like to breed a pullets from different line than cockerels .I like to keep the genetic divercity in my flok ,
hope we will have some nice pullet. I m more interested in cockerel ,you have very nice hens if we can find a great looking couples of cockerels to breed them to ,than we will be fine and we will be in a better position to breed some very nice pullets next year for sure .
cockerels are harder to breed .not the pullets.

You’ve probably put this on the thread before, but do you have examples of good/bad chick down and chick body type? Also, how do you keep track of which chicks are from each eggs? Do you just have to be present and then tag them?
I know for myself, chicks with too much white on their face I usually do not keep. It tends to mean they are more sensitive to parasitic white.

I use mesh bags or a divider in the incubator to separate at hatch and tag as I take them out.
