I will do my best to keep them safe! Although I am not doing very good at that so far. 😕 I have one other pullet with a injured leg. She is healed but she will always have a limp. I have been doctoring her for weeks now. If she grows with the injury. I hope her leg continues to grow properly. She is walking better then she was walking. I splinted her because of the scar tissue keeps her from extending her leg completely. That helped! I will keep working with her.

I have been calling him Pretty boy and her Belle. They are starting to get color. You can see it in the light but not so good in pictures.

Copper showing in both BCMs. This is good because it means they are both pure, but bad because it means the rooster carries a yellow leg allele to pass it on to one of them. Can’t tell if the red in the first one is rooster colouring or rust, think it’s rust. Both Blues showing no sign of copper (or silver) yet. Ignore the leg bands on my thumb, I was just putting them on them!

very hard to tell .to know exactly if your marans rooster carry the yellow gene ,you need to be 100% the chicks are his . you have to pen him with your hens and hatch few eggs from each one to check for the yellow legs .
give a chicks a little more time and they will show all the traits to tell if they are pure or not .
love the colour of they eyes ,blue . that maean they will have bright orange eyes when fully mature .
hope they are pure
