I only have luna, marco, mario (their dad) and the french guy, no other marans. I have never seen darker eggs than those in greece (no number 7-9)it is a time for them to molt .
even the pullet will stop some time s .
the eggs are from Luna or other hens?
They are stunning to look at .NO bad Chickengr. you said the marans in Greece don t lay dark eggs? if those eggs are not dark enough than is different story .
chooks man
The friendliest as a chick was the Splash, she only tolerates me approaching. Anything closer and she flees haha.
Now all my other breeds (minus the 2 leghorns) are constantly in the way, having 11 chickens at your feet while you carry 5 gallons of water is quite a dance to say the least.
My mom is afraid of some of the hens because they "try to attack her", by this she means they peck her shoes expecting to be given food/treats haha.
Not much happening on the other threads so I thought I would post on here. I met a person today who has this cock. I think it is a Birchen Marans? I'm not sure about the lacing in the chest. Should this be solid black. Almost looks like laced wyndotte?? Thanks Tom
Could be cukoo cross with birchen??

I have noticed that the marans roos are not protective. if there is any danger they start running first. while my other roos call hens to eat maio amd marco peck the hens if they try to eat what is in front of them. maybe I spoiled them too much.
I have water in my big run so it makes my life easier. I also have water in my new run booked for marans.
