all the little chick s are in they new home .moved them last night .

they look confused at first ,than they get used to it .

well pleased about how did turn up .a lot room for 18 chicks to grow .



I need to start building another one ,because soon i ll have the spare room in the house full again .
they are hatching as I m tipping .

Now to focus hard on my next goal: breed quality Marans to standard while maintaining good egg color! It may take me many years but I look forward to the challenge.

Aww thank you! It would be awesome if I hatch some nice Marans chicks this year. I will be happy to see any improvements in the lines I have. As long as I'm taking them forward and not backwards I'm happy! :)

Here is two days worth of Marans eggs. Lol. Those girls are stingy but the two that are laying now have been fairly consistent. These are from the LA black copper pen.

I just set eggs on saturday so these are a few more Im saving up. I finally got batteries for my gram scale and the eggs of one pullet (who laid the dark speckled eggs) are pretty consistent at weighing 65 grams. The pullet who laid the lighter solid colored egg with no speckles has not been laying as long and her eggs are averaging 60-62 grams.

Great minds think alike. I took a picture of the eggs I gathered this morning. You are just so much more scientific than I am!
