thanks.

I put a few eggs araucana/naked neck. if they hatch I hope they will not jump out!

btw, I put a few marans/naked neck eggs. so marnecks are about to be created. if you were closer I would send you some.

Quote: your game cocks are like my araucana boys.

I must admit that jupiter can be sweet with the girls. the other day his buff orpington fluffy butt had a hard time laying an egg. he was sitting in the nest with his head over her neck till she finally laid the egg. but if it is about food he is the first one to get it, lol.

Only 1 of my LA BCM eggs hatched. He has some game chicks that hatched today also to keep him company. Once he gets good and fluffed out I will post a pic. And I'm only guessing on his gender. He is a big hefty chick. :)

for me to know if he is a single or double barred .I need to see a photo of him .

a Golden cuckoo marans is a barred Black copper . so they work very well together in the breeding pen.
double barred will throw 100% golden cuckoo
Single barred will throw 50% golden cuckoo and 50% black copper maran ( if mated to a Black copper hen).

the golden cuckoo coming out of this cross ( Golden cuckoo X black copper ) will be pure .

here a photos of the double barred and a single barred marans Roosters ( cuckoo marans)

Charlie2 = Double barred Silver cuckoo marans. he body color is lighter .

here a single barred

Shamrock . you can see his body color is darker compare to Charlie2.

from what I see in your pictures, he is a single barred.

I'm going to say he is double barred, but I don't have any personal experience with golden cuckoos. He would be darker I would think if he was double barred. If he throws 100% barred offspring he is double barred. If he throws 1/2 solid offspring and only 1/2 barred then he is single barred. He is definitely worth working with though. Nice eye color, good type, nice and chunky looking. He holds his wing up against his body well, nice back and tail angle. His comb is horrible but that doesn't matter. Mate him to hens with nice combs and the offspring will have better combs. I really like him. He is a lovely bird. His color is beautiful. Are his legs feathered? I can't tell by the pics. His leg color is good though.

he is stunning .
forget about the Black copper rooster .work with his Golden cuckoo . he is more close to greatness .
love his type .body color. his lovely long back .
he is every thing you need .
LL
.
I like both hens too .great type .

Why you wanted to start all over again ,when you have his gorgeous trio ..
if you work with them you ll get 50% black copper and 50% golden cuckoo . 2 for the price of one .isn t that great .. plus they ll throw some nice type too .

He is a single barred . and I like him a lot .

I like this idea. I agree, that's a nice trio. Love seeing all the cute chicks. It's a fun time of year!
