the S shape comb is out in my opinion
at 2 month I select for
1) body type
2) eye color
3) straightness of the legs
4) early feathering type
5) growth pattern

comb and body color plus mass I wait tell they grow more 5/6 month

all 3 of my cockerels have the same body type, eye colour, legs and all of my marans babies are super early feathering type. I now know who my keepers are.

RIP mario... he died after 2-3 days of suffering. I didn't want to kill him. as we didn't kill my granny when she had a stroke and suffered for 4 days before she died.

he is very pretty . I like more now that I have seen all this photos from different angle .at 12 week he look great to me ,still have a lot growing to do and more color to show up .
he is going to be stunning rooster when adult

one thing he need a little mass .width at the shoulder ,still young

great head .strong and full of vigor
well colored eyes
nice strong and well colored beak
good comb ,could be more tidy at the front ,nice texture .
good size wattle and good shape
super pretty hackle ,nice rich cooper with minimum small flame bordered with copper
pure black no mossiness or white lacing

this part of his body at this age will score 10/10.

love his tail ,small ,well formed and at the right angle
great flat long and tilted back
nice ,rich copper coming through his shoulder and lancet
well feathered shanks .ONLY a problem they don t look straight to me maybe just the way he is standing ,

name him well because he is a keeper .

his head is well put together ,every thing is in it place , Comb could be a little tidy at the from . I see a little bend.
nice eyes,well colored and full of life

nice strong beak ,good color

nice long flat tilted back .
great tail . love the Angle Not too high ,neither too low ,nice shape HOW does look from the back ?
strong shoulder ,and nicely colored ,rich copper
love the way he is holding his wing .close to the body
well colored lancets
deep chest and well black
strong thigh and legs great size Short and stocky
well feathered shanks and good color

this guy will throw great body type and well colored daughters for sure

his a FIRST CLASS BREEDER and could be a SUPER SIRE of many SIRES and DAMS if mated to a proper hens .
