International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Hello everyone!! Long time no see. Summer time is a very busy time for us, especially now with my new job. Fortunately I have been offered a position at a local hospital in their PCU. Looking forward to it very much!

Anyhoo.. Cooper my LA cockerel was killed by my son's dog (the dog is no longer with us) so I am looking through his offspring for his replacement for my LA line of BCM. Mud my FRF cock bird is still fat and sassy as ever. :D. Although the molt is near and he looks like he has seen better days! :lau

Here is my best cockerel from Cooper so far. No parasitic white (yet) and a very nice looking guy aside from his high set tail. I also included a picture of him as a chick. Born Dec 2016.

Sorry for the numerous posts, sharing more pics! This is the egg of my one and only FRF hen. She has been laying steadily all summer and her egg color has remained dark and lovely.

All of my Marans are free ranging for the time being so they can recuperate for the next breeding season. To show their appreciation, along with my layers, they provide me with many MANY eggs. :)

sorry to hear about your trouble .shipped egg can be disaster some time .

the chicks you got left has a proper hatch down ,no parasitic white .
it is easier to breed the feather on the legs but it is harder to breed the parasitic white out .
I think is a pullets ,all the signs are telling that .
dark comb
dark beak
dark feet
narrow head not chunky

chooks man
chooksman, thank you for the information. Happy to be getting another pullet, would just really like to hatch a cockeral. Sigh.
