A few pics of my latest BCM chick. The egg in the pic is the one this chick hatched from. The sole survivor of my latest attempt to get a LP BCM cockerel. I do not like trying to hatch shipped eggs, but I want to try to stay with the LP line. It is a very lively, friendly, happy little guy/gal. Out of 8 eggs only two hatched. I lost one this morning. Magpie is my only survivor
. None of the other eggs developed. I did notice it does not have much feathering on the legs at all. I know this is not good. However it didn't have any white on the face, so I was happy about this.
I am really enjoying seeing everyone's Marans pics, keep em' coming.

@eggbert420 .
the back of his comb should be free from that little point but the mains points are stunning well formed .
well colored eyes10/10
strong beak and well colored
his strong point is his wattle .great shape ,small and well formed free from any folding or splitting
ears tuft should be a same color as the hackle not darker ( it is not a fault if is darker but is preferable to be a same color as the hackle. a good indicator of how his pullets progeny is going to look like )
love his rich coppery hackle .flames only on the lower part of the hackle ,small and well bordered will copper .great point
What is his name ?
chooks man
sorry to hear about your trouble .shipped egg can be disaster some time .
the chicks you got left has a proper hatch down ,no parasitic white .
it is easier to breed the feather on the legs but it is harder to breed the parasitic white out .
I think is a pullets ,all the signs are telling that .
dark comb
dark beak
dark feet
narrow head not chunky
chooks man
Thank you, chooks man
He was born 2/23/17
I've never named him , he is free ranged with my cuckoo's.
