2017 Breeding season Part 2 .

here some insight on my BCM & BLCM breeding program for the this breeding season .
now that I have a healthy data from all this years progeny from Part 1 so I know how is staying and how is out .
Black copper from the 6 hens I bred from only 4 are going forward . they are going to be mated to they son s to start they individual line s.
I selected ;
.Tabarine ( Toby the black hen) her son Tobambezi. this line will be selected for the large type .nice long back and dark large eggs . PROBLEM will be the throw back of the black pullets
Shakera ,her son Shakbezi .this line will be selected for body type ,great body color ,nice dark large egg . PROBLEM
white ears lobes and high tail

Norway .my favorite I m keeping 4 cockerel from her they are stunning . haven t name them yet .
this line will be bred to be perfect no Fault .for now only the comb is the weakest point

Tamarine .her son Tambezi .this line will be bred only for the well colored progeny with a long back and large dark egg. PROBLEM will be clean shanks and black eyes

Blue copper hens I m only breeding from 2 hens .Bella and Burwood
I have many cockerels from them from different mating to 3 different roosters .so I m spoiled for the chose .

all this line will be kept pure .each hen will be mated to her son and I ll hatch 25/30 chicks from each mating .
i ll select the best pullets and mate them to they Sire . select the best few male and mate them to they Dam . generation after generation

this year pullets are going to be mated to they Sires to start they line too.

more breeding pens to build .

there is high demand of this marans chooks in this country .

So, in an American breeding group for Marans, I'm told that these tails, the thin, pointed ones, are "pinched", indicating the bird narrows at the rear, and that open, short tails that are nice and even are the way to go here. Thoughts?

my friend Bantambird . in this thread we breed to the original French standard .because the marans hen is a French and bred by the French No body else .
So the French standard is the real deal ,

to tell you more .Genetically it is not correct what they are saying over there .PINCH TAIL DOES NOT MEAN NARROW BACK OR NARROW REAR >
people this days talk to much rubbish that all .they speculate a lot when they don t understand some thing .

you pullet is a perfect French type . you can .see she has not a narrow back or short back or any thing like that .
she is perfect .

you are free to breed to any standard as long as you aware of it and don t try to work with 2 different standard . you ll get lost .

OPEN tail .FAN tail ,LONG tail are all fault by the Original French standard

@Bantambird

this pullet of yours will score over 93 point or over in any marans show in France ,so be proud of it .
if you want to breed to show in USA than the French standard is not good for you .
BUT if you want to breed a true French marans than you have to stick to the French .

most people ( or I l say marans breeders) think if they put feathers on they chooks legs than they think they are french marans .

FRENCH MARANS HAS TO BE BRED TO A FRENCH STANDARD .

good luck to every one

She does appear to have yellow legs/skin. It could be the lighting though.

In regards to her tail, I don't really think it is pinched. It looks like she is going through a molt and hasn't gotten all of her tail feathers back in yet.
